Paraplanner looks to double in size after lockdown growth spurt

A financial planning firm has set its sights on doubling in size over the coming year following a growth spurt during the coronavirus pandemic.

Paraplanning Hub outsources services to financial planning and advice firms and has gained four staff members since the crisis began, bringing the total team number to six.

Tony Slimmings, company founder and former IFA, said turnover had doubled over the past three years and hailed recent months as an opportunity to "scale-up" the business.

He said: "Personally, the pandemic created an amazing opportunity to provide a remotely-based, outsourced service that is more cost effective than employing people.

"I’ve found a simple, straight-forward way to scale the business and support more clients, and ideally we will double in size again in the next 12 months.

"It’s early days, but I want to grow the business over the next five years to be a market leader in outsourced financial planning support."

Mr Slimmings said since 2017 the business had changed from a freelance paraplanner business to a full-service adviser support company, targeting one man advice firms with financial administration and paraplanning support.
