Bovill hires ex-FCA staffer to head wealth practice
Bovill wealth practice lead, Matt Browne

Bovill, the specialist financial services regulatory consultancy, has hired a former senior associate at the Financial Conduct Authority as head of its wealth practice.

Matt Browne will head up the role, overseeing discretionary management, financial planning, regulatory compliance and prudential obligations.

With 18 years’ experience in financial regulation, Browne joins the firm from PwC, where he was a director in their risk and regulatory practice, leading a team supporting clients across retail investment markets.

He has worked on a broad range of conduct and culture issues, including governance reviews, senior managers conduct regime (SMCR) frameworks and digital advice platforms.

Prior to PwC, Browne worked at the Financial Conduct Authority, leading on regulatory initiatives including RDR and investment platforms.

Bovill chief executive, Rebecca Thorpe said Browne joins the team at a critical time for the firm's clients.

“I know that our wealth team will be strengthened by his depth of experience including insight from his time at the FCA, and our clients will find his perspectives on their most pressing issues highly valuable,” said Thorpe.

Browne echoed Thorpe’s sentiment and said he looks forward to working with clients across a range of regulatory projects and compliance services.

He said: “This is a challenging period for the UK financial services sector given the UK government’s intention to amend EU rules in the hope of delivering a Brexit dividend. I’m excited to help clients navigate the challenges that will arise.”

Set up in 1999, Bovill has offices in London, the United States, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the Netherlands.
