CFA UK has launched the Certificate in Impact Investing qualification for investment professionals.

The qualification is a self-study course that requires 130 hours of study and covers: Impact investment philosophy, strategy and implementation, Asset classes and products in private and public marketsImpact selection, measurement, management, monitoring and reporting.

CFA UK is part of the network CFA institute, a global, not-for-profit organisation that provides investment professionals with financial education.

CFA UK’s co-chair of the Certificate in Impact Investing panel Rebecca Macdonald said: “As client demand for positive impact alongside financial return increases, investment professionals need to respond accordingly to understand the discipline, its application and the different ways it can be delivered.”

Candidates will have 12 months from starting the course to sit the exam and will learn how to implement impact strategies including how to develop theories of change and measurement frameworks.

This is the latest qualification from CFA UK after it launched the Certificate in Climate & Investing in March 2023 and the Certificate in ESG investing in March 2021.In April 2023, the CFA announced it was making changes to its programme which its president called the ‘most significant’ since its inception in 1963. Among the changes was the introduction of a digital practice module that will allow candidates to learn on-the-job, practical skills.
