Skandia has appointed BNY Mellon’s UK wholesale managing director Scott Goodsir to lead its UK distribution.

Mr Goodsir will become managing director of UK distribution when he joins in March, reporting to head of global distribution Steven Levin. He will also team up again with Paul Feeney, chief executive of Skandia’s parent company Old Mutual Wealth, who previously worked at BNY Mellon.

In his new role Mr Goodsir will oversee sales and distribution of Skandia products including the platform, protection products, investment products and offshore bonds.

BNY Mellon was briefing major clients yesterday evening that it plans to appoint a replacement for Mr Goodsir. Matt Oomen, head of EMEA intermediary distribution, will take over as UK wholesale managing director on an interim basis.

A statement from Mr Oomen to clients said: “In the last year, BNY Mellon has built a channel coverage model to reflect the diverse and changing landscape in which we operate. The channels are split across discretionary sales, life companies, advisory and nationals, networks and banks, the leaders of which are well-entrenched and seasoned in their particular fields of expertise.

“BNY Mellon remains committed to the UK wholesale space and its valued clients and will continue to grow the business in this market. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Scott for his valued contribution and success in the role to date, as well as wishing him well in his future pursuits.”

Skandia’s Mr Levin said: “We are focused on growing quickly into one of the leading investment businesses in the market, and Scott’s experience will help us achieve that. He already knows our business and many of our people very well through his role at BNY Mellon and will be a great addition to our team.”

Skandia is set to rebrand as Old Mutual Wealth later this year.
