Boutique fund group Oriel Asset Management has hired Jamie Ward as an analyst on Patrick Barton’s IWI Oriel UK fund.

Mr Ward joins from hedge fund Wolos Capital, where he was an equity analyst, but will now be a fund manager on Oriel’s UK equity fund alongside Mr Barton.

Prior to Wolos, Mr Ward worked with Mr Barton and Richard Scrope at Investec and Williams de Broë as an equity analyst with the responsibility for covering a variety of sectors. He began his career at Brown Shipley.

Simon Bragg, chief executive of Oriel Asset Management, said the group was seeing “increased interest” in its three equity funds - UK, European and global - and Mr Ward’s appointment “reflects the firm’s recent growth”.
