Pensions minister Steve Webb was caught out before delivering a speech for the Resolution Foundation a couple of weeks ago.
The Lib Dem received a text which he initially thought was from his daughter, but it turned out to be from someone offering a “free pension review”.
Mr Webb later wondered out loud whether he should have taken them up on their offer but decided against it.
He’s obviously had independent financial advice on that one.
