Natwest and TSB both raise rates

Natwest Intermediary Solutions and TSB have both increased interest rates on a selection of existing mortgage products in the last couple of days.

TSB’s rate changes came across its 10-year fixed rates for homemovers and remortgagees, with decreases for those with a higher loan-to-value and increases for those that have a lower LTV ratio on their home.

The lender stressed that any increases were in line with recent moves across the market.

Rates are up 0.2 per cent across the 10-year fixed rate range for those with up to 60 per cent LTVs, now starting at 3.34 per cent for homemovers and 3.39 per cent for remortgages.

Further changes will see a 0.1 per cent and 0.05 per cent increase on 60 to 75 per cent LTV and 75 to 80 per cent LTV homemover mortgages and 0.15 per cent on 60 to 75 per cent LTV remortgages.

Natwest’s adviser arm meanwhile upped rates on its £995 fee 60 per cent loan-to-value residential deals by between six and 14 basis points.

Paul Kane, acting head of sales at the lender, explained: “We are committed to offering intermediaries a competitive product range, so I am pleased to report that all our other rates remain unchanged.”

Elsewhere in the market, Newcastle Building Society launched a number of two and five-year fixed rate deals ranging from 90 to 95 per cent loan-to-value, all of which are fees free.

Steve Urwin, managing director for sales and marketing at the firm, said: “The fixed rate market has picked up and represents 88 per cent of the total lending in the UK - based on Council of Mortgage Lenders figures this month - which is also considerably higher than in previous years, which could be attributed to the mounting speculation about when the Bank of England Base Rate will rise.”

Finally, Coventry for Intermediaries reduced the rates on its residential mortgage range, offering new prices on its two and five-year deals at 65 to 90 per cent LTV.
