With Euro 2016 only around the corner, a number of firms operating in the financial service arena have adopted the same tack in distributing football-themed articles to bolster publicity.

One release that caught our eye was sent by financial tech firm Equiniti, sponsor of an event which saw 36 men and women set a new Guinness World record for the longest game of football for a good cause.

The group, aged between 17 and 53, played 108 hours of continuous football – raising a cool £35,000 to boot.

The gruelling match was held in memory of a former county league footballer and two other men who were killed in the Shoreham Air tragedy.

Proceeds raised by the event will be split 50-50 between the British Heart Foundation and towards erecting a permanent memorial to the men.
