The Chartered Insurance Institute has appointed two vice presidents, which it said will support the international work of the organisation.

Enas Asiri and Suresh Nair, who are both fellows of the CII, have been appointed to the roles.

Asiri joined Bahrain National Life Assurance (BNL) in September 2017 and before that was the head of the life and medical operations at the Arab Insurance Group (ARIG), where she initially started her career in insurance in 2007.

She said: "The CII played a pivotal role in shaping my professional development and career advancement. I am looking forward to contributing to such a distinguished establishment and elevating the voice of international members.”

Nair has been in the insurance industry for more than three decades and is currently executive director at Gargash Insurance Services based in Dubai.

He started his insurance career at the National Insurance Company in India, before moving to the Oman National Insurance Company in Muscat and then relocating to Dubai.

“Like so many other insurance and financial service professionals, I hold the CII and what it stands for in the highest regard," he said.

"It will therefore be an honour to be affiliated with and serve as the vice president (international) of the CII. I look forward to working closely with the CII team, the international institutes affiliated with the CII, and the CII membership.”

As well as being global ambassadors for international members of the CII, the vice presidents will chair the International Affiliated Institute Forum (IAIF) which acts as a mechanism for the CII to consult its global affiliated institute network.

Azlina Bulmer, executive director of membership and engagement for the CII, said: “We are delighted to welcome both Enas Asiri and Suresh Nair to the CII’s international team.

"They each bring a wealth of experience to role, that will be of considerable benefit to the CII and its members. The CII is dedicated to building the insurance and financial service professions across international markets, and we look forward to making further progress as we move in to 2024.”
