Artemis hires fifth manager from Kames

Artemis' expansion of its bond fund business has continued with the hiring of Jack Holmes from Kames.

Mr Holmes was a high yield bond fund manager at Kames from 2016 until his departure was announced earlier this week. Prior to joining Kames he worked at Standard Life Investments and Cambridge Economics.

Mr Homes' switch from Kames to Artemis follows that of several of his colleagues, including Stephen Snowden, who was co-head of fixed income at the former, and fund managers David Ennet, Stephen Baines and Juan Valenzuela.

Mr Snowden had taken up the role as co-head of fixed income following the departure of the long serving duo Phil Milburn and David Roberts from the firm. That duo joined Liontrust.

Alongside the announcement of the hiring of Mr Holmes, the company revealed that Mr Ennet and Mr Baines will manage a new Short-Dated High Yield Bond fund at Artemis.

Jasper Berens, head of distribution at Artemis, said: "We’re delighted to have attracted a manager of Jack’s ability and experience.

"This strengthens our new fixed income team even further. New funds for the team, such as our imminent Short-Dated Global High Yield Bond fund, will complement our existing offerings in fixed income and meet our clients’ needs."
