Responsible Investing: The New Normal

Ep 1 - The themes driving responsible investing

The Covid-19 pandemic has shaken up the world economy and created opportunities for investors in responsible investment funds, according to the guests on the first in a series of special FTAdviser podcasts on the future of responsible investing.

Ashley Hamilton Claxton, head of responsible investing at Royal London Asset Management, said: “The themes around technological change are something that we are constantly monitoring in our sustainable investment fund range.

"And with the pandemic, some of those themes that we have been looking at have a greater focus, such as experimental medicines, automation and logistics and how that fits into supply chains, and also tracing apps.”

Tom Sparke, investment director at GDIM, a discretionary fund management firm in Cambridge, said: “Technology is very much a moveable feast and we monitor our technology exposure across all our funds, including our responsible investing funds.

"We are also looking at medical advances, and investments that deal with food and water shortages.”
