The Financial Services Compensation Scheme has declared Manchester-based Aqua Financial Services Limited, Strategic Investment Solutions Limited and Northern Ireland-based Fresh Financial Solutions LLP in default.

According to the FCA Register,  Aqua Financial Services has not been registered as an appointed representative since August 2022, with Companies House filings showing the firm was dissolved in January 2023.

The FSCS told FT Adviser it had received six claims against the firm, and so far four have been rejected and one has been upheld.

The claims were pension advice and Sipp related, with the lifeboat scheme highlighting the firm advised some British Steel members.

The firm also previously had the name Aqua IFA Limited.

Second firm

Strategic Investment Solutions Limited has been in liquidation since December 2022 according to Companies House, with the FCA Register showing the firm has not been authorised since September 2023.

The FSCS said it has received three claims against the firm, all pensions related, with one currently upheld.

It said the claims are not BSPS related.

The firm was also previously known as Cobco Limited and Denton Mortgages and Loans.

Third firm

Fresh Financial Solutions LLP has not been authorised by the FCA since March 2015 and was dissolved in April 2015.

The FSCS said it had received five claims across a few areas of its coverage including home finance and insurance.

It said most of these claims were from “a few years ago” and had been rejected, however one claim has recently been upheld triggering the default.

This claim is regarding pension advice relating to a Sipp which is not BSPS related, according to the lifeboat scheme.
