Succession Wealth appoints head of M&A
Daniel Jones, head of mergers and acquisitions at Succession Wealth

Succession Wealth has appointed Daniel Jones as head of mergers and acquisitions.

Jones will be responsible for executing and overseeing Succession Wealth’s M&A strategy, from origination to closure, including the due diligence process.

He joins from PwC’s financial services advisory team, where he led the team’s wealth management advisory offering, working with clients on both the buy and sell side.

Before joining PwC, Jones ran his own brokerage for more than four years and, before that, he advised wealth management firms at a sell side broker.

Jones said: “M&A in the advice profession has changed significantly in the past 18 months.

“I believe that Succession – with its track record and stability through the backing of Aviva – is a uniquely attractive proposition for truly independent financial planning firms looking for a proposition to evolve their business to the next level for their shareholders, their clients and their teams.”

He will report to Steve Willis, group finance director at Succession Wealth.

Aviva bought Succession Wealth in 2022, in a deal worth up to £385mn.

At the time, Aviva said the deal “significantly enhances” its presence in the wealth market as more people seek advice for their retirement and savings options.

The company said through Succession Wealth, Aviva will be able to offer advice to approximately six million of its customers.

Of these, four million are workplace pension customers with £96bn assets under management, and approximately two million individual pensions and savings customers with £139bn Aum.

Succession said Jones’ appointment strengthened the senior management team as it looks to grow under Aviva's ownership.

In October Dawn Buckingham joined the firm as group operations director and Chris Truman as chief technology officer, subject to regulatory approval.

James Stevenson, chief executive of Succession Wealth, said: “We are excited to welcome Daniel on board and look forward to him playing a valuable role as part of our overall team who have so successfully identified and integrated high-quality advice businesses into Succession.

“Daniel will bring expertise and additional capacity to continue to deliver our M&A strategy, which remains judicious in pursuing opportunities where we believe there is genuine strategic value for both parties.

“Currently, we are seeing significant interest as firms search for a partner with a proven track record and strong balance sheet.”
