Boost founder McNeil unveils latest ETF venture

Hector McNeil, who co-founded ETF Securities and Boost ETP, intends to offer a “white label” service to ETF providers with his latest venture.

Mr McNeil co-founded and was managing partner at ETF Securities in the early 2000s, and then Boost ETP in 2012.

He later merged this venture with WisdomTree, and served as co-chief executive of the new company, before setting up his latest venture, HANETF, in March 2017.

Mr McNeil said HANETF will provide a white label service to companies wanting to launch ETFs into the UK market, taking care of marketing, sales support and administration.

He is particularly targeting companies that have launched products in the US and Asia, and may now want to enter the UK market, as well as companies that run active funds in the UK, but want to launch ETFs, as that market has shown strong growth.

Mr McNeill said he thinks the growth in the ETF market will come largely from smart beta and other esoteric ETFs in future.
