Former Morningstar director of UK manager research Jeremy Beckwith has joined the FCA as a technical specialist.
The role sees him working in the regulator's supervision division, focusing on investment management.
The move follows Mr Beckwith's 2016 departure from Morningstar, where he had worked for some 18 months, leading the firm's team of fund analysts in London.
He had previously been best known for an eight-year spell at Kleinwort Benson between 2003 and 2011.
An FCA spokesman confirmed Mr Beckwith's appointment but declined to comment further.
